For example, several grocery stores in my area issue ‘bonus cards’ – those annoying programs you sign up for and they give the plastic card for discounts. My card remains logged to the phone tax id number I had 10 years ago (and I had it as an unlisted number) So, every time my purchase is logged, it’s attributed to the last person that had the number as a published number, someone named Sarah Spencer. Thus, when this grocery sells its data on me (items purchased, no. of stores trips, paper or plastic, etc.) all my junk food purchases get pegged to Sarah Spencer. Hope she doesn’t need life insurance!
